I am currently using a small form factor case (http://www.chyangfun.com/Product/CF-S968l.htm) with the Intel 845GE chipset and I would like to enable TV-out through Myth. Can anyone point me to a link that would step me through this process?

Also, I ditched my Radeon 9600 because I do not have an HDTV set at this point, so I am guessing that the onboard video should work ok (and besides, it seems to be a bit difficult to get TV-out through Radeons).

Hi Brian,

Did you end up getting this card to work? I am using a Shuttle CV21 which uses the same chipset.

Thanks,
james

Hello,

I have the CF-S66 mainboard and even Bios seems to be in Black and White on the TV. If you managed to get this working, please please please let us know.

This is driving me mad. In my logs it says it is using the config file XF86Config not XF86Config-4 so I put the Connected monitor "TV" in this file in the Monitor section and also the one for PAL (I'm in the UK) but the logs say it is not used???

Help.
Thanks,
Grim.

Grim,

I had the same problem, although I was using some nVidia-based AGP card. On mine, it was S-Video out and the card came with an S-Video to RCA adapter. Always came up black and white. Tried all sorts of things, without any luck.

Went out and bought an S-Video to RCA cable from Dick Smith (in Australia) for around $10. Took it home and it worked on a fresh install without any changes. Moral of the story... try another cable?

also sometimes if you are using svid to composite converter you have to force composite in the config file cause it incorrectly detects it as svideo and you must go least common denominator.

Hi people,

Is this even if you cant get bios to display in colour? I am confused, I went out and baught a S-Video lead, but nothing seems to help? I will look for a s-video to RCA cable.

xsecrets: I tried putting composite in the config, but it says it is not used in my /var/log/XF86.logs???

Thanks.
Grim.

Ok, been looking on the net for a S-video to RCA connector and have discovered that the PVR250 comes with one. and that I have actually tried it (I didn't know that it was one until I saw a picture of one while searching.)

I am really lost now, I think that maybe it is actually the mainboard is hard coded to NTSC as chyang havent even bothered to reply to my mail for help.

I guess I will be selling this box now then.

My advice would be... Do not buy a CF-S66 mainboard if you want to use TV-OUT in PAL.

Of course I will be monitoring this forum for any other suggestions.

Thanks for your help,
Grim. :(

not sure if this helps but....

I have a HDTV with the S-Video input on a shared connection with the red, yellow, white inputs. I use channel AV3 if using the yellow video in; Channel SV3 if using the s-video with white and red for audio). I noticed that it can get confused and only work in black and white, which is solved by turning off all the power and turning everything on again.

Also,

My motherboards tv out only works in colour if I use s-video out to s-video input direct to the TV. If I use any adaptors it only comes up in black and white.

I also get 'inverted colours' in X when it loads up which can be solved by pressing CTRL ALT F1 and then back in using CTRL ALT F7.
