This is my first mythtv box. I first tried to get it working with a new pvr-350. I couldn't get the tuner setup correctly. So I switched to a really old hauppauge card I have had for years (called WinTV PVR if I remember correctly). Knoppmyth detected it as a pvr-150 and I set it up in mythtv-setup. (I remember it being advertised with hardware mpeg-2?)

When I go to "watch TV" I get great picture but no sound. I checked my mixer settings with aumix and everything looks okay. I checked that the onboard audio was working on my mobo: cat /dev/urandom >/dev/dsp. This produced stereo static from the mobo output jack.

My TV card has a "line out" jack on the backplate. On my wintel box I always uses a loop back from this TVcard-"line out" to the soundcard-"line in". I have the same setup here (I made sure line in was enabled in the mixer). But even if I plug the speakers directly into the TVcard-
line out" I get no sound.

Here is the tveeprom output from dmesg:

Code:
tveeprom: Hauppauge: model = 45231, rev = D123, serial# = 4165132
tveeprom: tuner = Philips FM1236 (idx = 23, type = 2)
tveeprom: tuner fmt = NTSC(M) (eeprom = 0x08, v4l2 = 0x00001000)
tveeprom: audio_processor = MSP3435 (type = 10)

I have the /etc/mythtv/models/ivtv file with the default options tuner type=2 line. (and it works great for the video) Is there a line I need to add for the audio_processor reported in dmesg?

update:
when I run lspci I get the following:
Code:
0000:02:0a.0 Multimedia video controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Video Capture (rev 11)
0000:02:0a.1 Multimedia controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Audio Capture (rev 11)

update2:
And this is what I found in /var/log/messages
Code:

Sorry, I don't think the old WinTV PVR is support by the ivtv drivers. Check the ivtv site/wiki/mailing list for greater details.

I did some searching and found that ivtv does not support this card. there is a partially working driver located at: http://pvr.sourceforge.net/.

I desided not to use this card. I posted this reply for other people who might search for the Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI card might find it.
