I've read that the ivtv module needs to equal 39 for it to work... How would i change it? I get video but its really choppy...and the video card is supposed to have mpeg 2 decoding but i cant get drivers to install from cd...so that might be the problem..

ok well you change... and set ... to ...

kind of what we heard from you. you didn't give us nearly enough info. what kinf of video card? did you load any sort of binary drivers for the video card? what cd?

ivtv changes are made in /etc/mythtv/modules/ivtv file.

Sorry for little details...ran out of time to finish typing...

ITs a volari v3xt pci graphics card with 64mb...I just hooked everything up and installed knoppmyth Thats all i've installed..

And IM using a Hauppauge pvr 250 980 with the new decoder chips

I have the video card drivers (for volari) on cd ..

Well last time I saw a review site look at the volari it couldn't get the drivers to install either on any distribution in any fashion whatsover so their review was basically the card is broke in linux. I believe they are supposed to be coming out with some new drivers, but I haven't heard about it yet (haven't looked either)

i know they make linux drivers...just no hardware exceleration support yet i guess. I have the drivers on cd i just dotn know how to install them...

How do i edit the ivtv if its read only....im in the directory....as root...do i need to do something like chmod -g ivtv
but then how do i edit it...?

oh yeah...I have video output on my tv...im using that right now...Looks great!!...but the other day i tried it on computer monitor with onboard video and it was playing vcds...this cant even play vcds now..really choppy.........(the volari)

I know they make linux drivers, those are the ones the site I saw was reviewing, and they knew how to install video drivers in linux and still couldn't get them to install. The drivers are made for one specific kernel, and didn't even work on that kernel for the reviewer.

to edit a file you use vi or nano. if you are actually root no file should be read only.
