Well, I have been back and forth between distros (closest I got to getting everythign working was with Fedora Core 4, but I've always been a debian sort of guy.) So I downloaded the R5A22 release of Knoppmyth, installed it and after playing around with it am about to pull my hair out.

Here's the problem, with a fresh boot of it, if I try to watch TV, I get a black screen that just sits there until I hit esc. Then it crashes Mythfrontend and I'm in fluxbox. So to get this to work, I have to 'rmmod saa7134' then 'modprobe saa7134 card=2 tuner=39' if I then go into MythTV to watch it, the picture comes up, but it's very scrambled and green. BUT if I load up tv time it works great, then I load up MythTV and it works great. So something is getting initialized by TvTime that doesn't quite get initialized by MythTV.

So I tried adding 'card=2 tuner=39' to /etc/modules after saa7134 and the only improvement from the black screen is that it will show the station it's supposed to be on, and it doesn't crash mythfrontend. But then I have to go to a terminal, rmmod 7a7134 and then modprobe it with the above parameters, and then launch tv time and then go back into mythtv.

I know this is very much a beta thing right now, with using 0.18.2svn of MythTV, I wanted to try it out to see if it fixed some things that were messed up with MythGame and to also add support for more emulators.

From what I've seen so far, Kernel 2.6.14 has support specifically for the card I have in the Digimatrix (I know, I had Gentoo working... sort of again, but couldn't stomach waiting for EVERYTHING to compile. couldn't find binaries for things like Xmame and MythTV.)

I did try compiling my own 2.6.14 kernel, and screwed up because of the initrd (though I don't know exactly how, I ended up just re-installing because I didn't want to trouble shoot it)

Hopefully someone can help me figure this one out. I think if there were an update to the 2.6.14 kernel it would solve all of these problems. Probably an upgrade to the lirc 0.7.2 as well, since I know they added official support for the remote control for the Asus Digimatrix setup in that version of it.

This is definitely THE way to set up a MythTV box, kudos to the developers. Now if I could just get it to work flawlessly with my Digimatrix, I'd be happy.
