Has anyone installed KnoppMyth on a mini-ITX motherboard yet? I saw them on ebay for around $200.00. I could just get a riser card and stick in a hauppauge 250 possibly. If anyone has had success it would be great if they could give me maunufacture and model number.

there are several people using the mini-ITX boards. also known as epia, the ones with the CN400 are not completely supported yet, but other than that all the old epia boards should work just fine.

My entire mythbox is the frontend and backend, running on a Shuttle SK43G board. So yeah, the mini-atx boxes are definitely do-able.

Specs are like this:

Shuttle SK-43G barebones (ships with motherboard, heat pipe & power supply) should be <$200 now
AMD AthlonXP 2800
512MB PC3200 DDR
120GB Maxtor ATA133 drive
Pioneer 8x DVD+-RW
Hauppauge PVR-250
Nvidia GeforceFX 5900LE 128mb

The video card is overpowered, but Tuxracer (which is strangely absent from r22) plays like a dream on it.

Well there is a big difference in mini-ITX and mini-ATX, but at any rate either one works.

I've been experimenting with Knoppmyth on my epia M1000 for a couple of months now and it works pretty good. I currently have it set up as a frontend/backend unit, but eventually I plan on using it as just a frontend. R5A22 installed without any problems. R5A16 had some issues with the TV out having a green cast, but that was an easy fix with an edit to the Xfree config. I haven't had a chance to try the TV out on A22 yet, so I'm not sure it if has the same issue. Here's my current hardware config:

40GB 2.5" HD (w/IDE adapter)
DVD-ROM
200W DC-DC power adapter
60W external DC power brick
60mm CPU fan
Plextor PX-TV402U USB 2.0 tuner

The Plextor tuner is not the ideal tuner for this system since it records in mpeg4 and requires some edits to the run level scripts to get the USB to load before the backend. I plan on using a Hauppauge tuner when I build the backend so that I can take advantage of the mpeg2 decoding ability of the epia. The 40mm fan that comes with the epia was pretty loud, so I replaced it with a good double ball bearing fan and now the system is almost completely silent. The 60mm fan took some modding to make it work, but it was worth it.
