tjc -
Everything was already set up that way, but I re-redid it anyway and switched from us-cable to us-cable-hrc as suggested. Rebooted, and I now I get snow. Yay! Progress! No sound tho. On a related note, it seems like the interface responds faster now. The system time is wrong now too, hrm.

mjl -
I already have a remote console set up ass tjc suggested, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get those nice log snips. All of the paths seem to be correct. The buffer is smaller than the cache size by about 1.4 gig.

If you're seeing snow, try channels 5 & 6 where the two frequency sets are the closest. If those come in at all, switch back to us-cable. You do have a good connection to the screw on coax connector on the PVR card right? Screw on cables are HIGHLY recommended over the push on ones. Both EE and electrician friends have told me that in low voltage systems really strong physical contact on the connections is key, and this matches up with my experience. Getting out a wrench and making sure that they're properly tightened, rather than relying on finger strength, actually makes a difference too. The pros always use a wrench.

See this thread for the time and/or timezone fix. http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6361 If it doesn't cure your TZ ills Cecil would request that you start a new thread for a new topic.

That topic helped with the time.

Yeah, I always use the screw kind. I didn't need to use a wrench in the last place I used this card, but I'll try anyway.

Channels 5 and 6 are still entirely snow, no picture what so ever.

I'd still try switching back to the other frequency set since it's any easy thing to do. Don't forget to check the backend logs afterwards. Believe it or not, seeing snow really is progress.

OBTW - What are you doing for a splitter? Make sure you've got a good one that limits the loss to 3.7dB per tap, and that you're not daisy chaining splitters.

I know seeing snow is progress, I wasn't being sarcastic.

Couldn't tell if the splitter was limiting anything, so I just took it out (the other room can do without for now). I'm barely getting a picture, so I've switched it back to us-cable. Success! Picture! Sound too! Thank you all for bearing with me :D
