I can currently pipe the Satelite through the box and view it on the TV. But the response time is terribly slow when changing channels. Is this just how it has to be or is there a fix available. Do i need to update the drivers for the PVR-350? I am currently using the drivers supplied with KnoppMyth 4.

well it's going to be a little slow, because mythtv actually records the file to disk and then plays back that recorded file, so setting that up takes a bit of time. This has been improved in mythtv 0.13, but it's still not instant, and I would imagine that since you are coming from a satelite box that will add some extra time too, but I've never used mythtv with any kind of external decoder, so I can't say for sure on that.

The Delay is close to 20 seconds, Which i feel is terrible. Please let me know if there is anything i can do to speed up the channel changing times.

well 20 seconds is extreame 3 or 4 seconds is normal on a directly connected analog cable with 0.12

I agree, 20 is way too long. I have a PVR-250 with a 1900+ and 1/2 gig memory. Takes about 3 seconds for my setup... but that doesn't solve your problem

Is DMA enabled for you disc? What bitrate are you encoding to?

well my biggest question is how are you changing the channel? since the signal is piped from a satalite box the channel has to be changed there. are you using an irblaster, or a serial cable or what?

In the future i would like to set up a system where the Myth box controls the Satelite tuner but as of right now i am just changing the channels with the Satelite Remote. I am using a Dish Satelite Reciever but am not sure the exact model. Is it possible to have the Myth Box control the Satelite Reciever? I know its been done with DirecTV recievers but im pretty sure thats a different animal.

ok so I'm just guessing here, but you have the satalite box connected to mythtv and mythtv is just tuned into channel 3 or 4 or whatever it needs to be and you actually change the channels on the satalite box? or are you using a different input like the svid or composite? I guess I'm just not understanding your setup.

Yes using SVideo from Sat Box to the Myth Box, Then going SVID out on Nvidia Vid Card to TV. The Audio is also being piped through the input on the Nforce Board and spit back out through the same sound card. This is all working but the lag is horrific.

You can't pipe your sat through the cable out to the pvr cable in then to the TV??? S-video uses RGB technology , it is good from sat to tv because the video is already decoded to be written on the screen with RGB, but from S-video to myth, I imagan the RGB is reencoded then decoded again by your video card to the TV, then as Xsecrets mentions the record time in myth, is the sound in synce or is it an old chinees move?? Use just cable wire until you reach the TV. But still 20 sec is way to long for the lag time??? Then use the sound out of mythTV to TV or stereo, should be less mess too!!

what can it hurt but some rewireing??

Way to bring back a thread from two years ago.

Just wanted to point out that s-video does not use RGB color. It has one color channel and one brightness channel. Not three color channels like RGB.
