Can someone tell me if there is any difference between a LCD computer monitor and a LCD TV -- e.g., is there additional built in hardware besides the speakers? My TV picture on my computer LCD monitor has a tendency to wash out on bright images in full screen mode. Picture looks really good no matter what when looking at the preview mode in the EPG though.

I get the same thing on my TV, it's not LCD and it's older but it has a tendency to display way too hot, particularly when there's alot of white in a scene. I had to enable XV video controls and then turn the brightness down a notch or two during playback. It's still not perfect but I can't be sure if it's my tv or not. I have a switchbox that lets me switch between Myth and my digital cable box, and now they look nearly the same..which leads me to believe that the XV dimming works right but Comcast might be broadcasting a hot signal. Again, it could be my weird old TV. Something worth trying for you though.
