back on deck again... i get to the same point,

saa7134[0]: frontend initialization failed

i've got no /dev/dvb or adapters directories, so thats where to look next....

I'm also not sure which frontend driver to expect...
i had a close look at the card, and found a chip with mt352 written on it.
But, others are saying that the "TDA1004X (or tda10046 specifically)" is the one.

Does anyone have any clues about this for the Aver 777?

After a bit of googleing it looks like the 777 is doing demodulator/channel decoding with the MT352, in place of a tda10046 .

The PHILIPS_TOUGH reference design patch driver is maybe a red herring.

Looks like some serious driver hacking is required......
