Good afternoon,

I am having trouble getting a quality audio signal from my saa7134 based tv-tuner. Currently I am using a loopback cabel from the card to the line-in on my sound card, however this is producing very poor quality sound. (lots of high pitched hissing).

I have tried to create /dev/dsp0 by including the
Code:
options oss=1
to the saa7134 moduels, but this is having no effect when the module is loaded. Here is the output from dmesg:

Code:

Does anyone have any ideas to either improve the quality of the audio via the line-in (the sound card is an onboard C-Media controller) or, enable the pci audio transfer option in the module?

thanks,

Bill

I have a similar saa7134 card, but it has no eeprom.
I had sound problems, I found I had to adjust the Igain setting in the mixer to improve the sound.

Hi

having same problem ... using VIA EPIA M10000 board with Siemens DVB-C with analog module saa7146 based ...

onboard sound works ... dvb playback ... mp3 ... but could not get sound work for liveTV or recorded tv ... no sound played or recorded :-(

I tried your way with audio out to line in / aux ... select capture device ... tried "v4lctl ... volume mute off" ... read in other thread ... :-(

why is there no audio device ... no /dev/dsp ... no /dev/dvb/adapter0/audio0 working?

How to get more infos ... hope to get the problem solved?

I also have a cheapie lifeview card, audio from CD's, etc works. tested xawtv and heard live tv sound. then followed posts for alsa -V. still no sound.
in myth setup in v4l /dev/dsp is selected. Alsa-default is not available and dod not take when i tried it.

Did anyone find a resolution, I have been reading tons of posts but not this particular issue.

thanks
