Hi,
I was wondering if a Shuttle ST62K is a good choice for Knoppmyth (I am not going to get a htpc immediately but planning on building one once I save up - in the next couple of months). I like the fact that it has a -fanless- PSU (fully quiet) and a very good cooling system - so almost noiseless. It is also reasonably priced IMO. The main problem is that it has a built-in ATI video card (which does work well with linux from what I have read on the web) and no AGP slot. The one PCI slot will be taken up by the Hauppauge PVR-250. I have no use for TV-out since I am using a projector. Will Knoppmyth work for me since the FAQ only mentions and everyone seems to only use nvidia cards? My guess it should be ok since the video card works (and I don't need TV-out) but want to make sure first before I buy.

an ati card should be fine if you are sure that you don't need tvout. The reason everyone uses nvidia is cause their drivers support tvout, and tvout is very easy to setup with their drivers. there are other cards that do work for tvout sis, and matrox, but nvidia is easy. The thing about ati is you can pretty much forget about tvout you can make it work but not well.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully Shuttle will come out with a fanless PSU for AMD as well by the time I am ready to get one. Apart from the projector, I am going to use an old Sony trinitron monitor for daytime viewing, so there is really no need for TV-out.
