Alright, I tried doing alsaconfig and I couldn't find a legacy sound card. I have an integrated sound card. What should I do?

Hi disruptor108,

A little clarity needed for me at least. Are you talking audio or audio w/150?

As for the 150, I have not been able poke it with anything to obtain something other than noise. Picture is ok but that is only half of the product.

On board audio should give something, do # alsaconf and search everything, if it finds a chip and it works you may have to modprobe it upon boot up.. not a big deal.

Mike

I'm just talking audio at all, not from the TV tuner.

When I ran alsaconfig, there were no legacy sound cards available.

The picture isn't really the issue with my PVR-150, I have decent picture just no audio in any part of KnoppMyth

Here's the output when I run lspci:

Hi disruptor108,

That was what thought you meant, This doesn't look good,
Quote:
0000:00:10.2 Multimedia audio controller: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 026b (rev a2)

you may have to invest in the $24 Compusa audio card, I don't recall if I tested it with myth, however it does work with Centos and Ubuntu which is a very good indicator. alsaconfig should find it and then as user mythtv $ alsamixer to umute certain items.

May want to rip a music cd so you have a test file to play, or as root you can do
# find / - name *.wav
This one will become very familiar
$ aplay /usr/share/sounds/beg.wav
The isa cards don't seem to have drivers available in the iso so be sure it is a pci audio card.

Mike

Alright, now I have a new sound card that works because I'm getting static when I try to tune in channels. How do I fix the static though?
