I have had the worst luck building this Mythtv box. 1 dead mobo and 1 dead video card (after 1 week). But to the point.

I got a replacement video card in just in time to try R5D1. Its a MSI FX 5200. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814127181 When I try to output video to the TV with S-Video it is in black and white and kind of grainy. This shocked me at first because with the previous Roswell FX 5200 it just worked (no X config at all).

The problem appears even in POST with the BIOS. I have gone through google and others have reported this problem but they are all software related. I have tried two different S-Video cords. I figured with this card being so highly recommended for this setup that others may have had this problem. Is there anything else to try or am I looking at yet another RMA to Newegg.com? If so should I try another MSI (was it just bad luck) or go with another brand (is this MSI related)?

Thank you,
Chance

If you are seeing this problem at POST, then it is hardware. This is not a very common problem, but it does occur ocasionally. You can find at least one example of this on this forum if you look. I think it was back in February.

Get newegg to send you another one.
