I am hoping that I can get some help. I have Knoppmyth running well. My system is as follows:

Athlon Thunderbird 750
WinTV-PVR 150 MCE model 1062
Nvidia video card

My problem is that the remote I have is not the one that I see described in the forums: the one easily recognizable difference is that my remote does not have the "color" buttons (red, green, yellow, and blue) that the ones I've seen described are said to have. The remote reciever is a USB dongle marked "SMK." None of the lircd.conf files I've found seem to work. I've used the lirc tools to create a .conf file, but the response is slow, and the buttons are very finicky. Does anyone know where I can get a better file, or how I can create a better file? This is really the last software issue I've got. Otherwise, I'm loving the system.

Thanks

Most likely an MCE remote. Do a search fro that and you should find a posting I made withing the last couple months which contains links to pictures of several types of remotes.

I remember checking that link that tjc mentions and not seeing the remote that I have.

Perhaps you have one pictured here:

I'm using this one with a pvr-500 and having some problems that I've been trying to resolve. Maybe that you are having similar issues, in particular: No hold down repeat and volume control for videos is replaced with speed-up/slow-down.

tjc,

I did several searches on you plus mce remote and various others (all the way back to Jan 06) and couldnt find the thread with the pictures of the remotes. i too am not clear as to which Hauppage remote to pick from the list given. (I have a PVR-150).

mine has 4 colored buttons on the bottom. Not sure if its silver or grey, and not sure what "dog-bone" refers to. Its not USB.

Thanks

If it's like the one that mythedoff linked to the picture of, you don't pick Hauuppauge, you pick MCE (Media Center USB).

BTW - Here is at least one thread with links to a set of pictures: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... mce+remote

To all-

Thanks for the help. Sorry I took so long getting back... out of town for the weekend. My remote is the one in the picture posted in the thread, though I got the internal card. I'll try using the different remote setting.

Thanks

Well...

after a few days of re-install (added a larger HD, etc...) I am trying to set up the remote again. It is the MCE remote discussed earlier (at least it matches the picture at http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/images/products/large/A0446158.jpg). However, when I use the MCE setting in the LIRC setup menu, it gives me an error message saying that it cannot detect the remote and that it should be able to. Using the Hauppage setting, I detect the reciever, but the remote only works if I use irrecord to create a profile. The problem there is that the remote acts very jumpy when I do that (sometimes it recognizes a keypress, sometimes it won't; often it requires the button be pressed two or three times, or for just the right amount of time).

Can anyone suggest a solution. I have the original Windows install disk- is there any way to extract a file from that? Barring that, is there some way to get the remote workin reliably? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

This is my config file for that remote: http://mythtv.mrjpiggott.net/lircrc

I believe I used something from here, a lsmod shows lirc_mceusb2
