I have the AMD X2 4200+, the stock CPU cooler that came with it is too noisy for my HTPC. Could someone make a suggestion for a tried and true, quiet CPU cooler?

Thanks!

The Zalman 7000 or 7700 AlCu models (lighter but with essentially the same thermal performance as the all copper models). Work great even at the lowest fan speed and run quiet.

Check to see which one you need with that CPU. I'm using the 7000 AlCu with a Athlon 64 3200+ with no overheating even at max load, but the Athlon 64 X2 4200+ may need more cooling.
