I'm running R5C7 and want to add a third analog tuner to my system. Will I be able just to pop in a PVR-150 along with my existing PVR-500, power up and run mythtv-setup, etc. or is it more difficult than this?

The reason I'm considering this is I've just switched from analog cable to Verizon FiOS digital. My old set up worked just fine with a single coax input into my PVR-500 for the dual tuners. Now with FiOS, I need two set top boxes if I want to have dual recording capability. Unfortunately, channel changing on the STBs can only occur through IR signals - the serial and USB ports on the STBs are disabled. More irritating however is that the STBs (Motorola QIP2500) are all the same and can not be reconfigured to receive different IR inputs. Consequently, one remote will change both boxes to the same channel.

I'm hoping that a PVR-150 with its own IR receiver and with a serial IRBlaster for the PVR-500 will solve the channel changing issue. Unfortunately, one of those dual-headed IRBlasters won't work since it sends out the same signal to both heads. Also unfortunately, the second tuner on the PVR-500 will go unused, but I can't think of any other way to get my mythbox to output two independent IR signals. I suppose I could add a second serial port - there's only one on my current system - but can two IRBlasters work independently on the same system?

Any thoughts? Thanks!

(P.S. - I've tried the dct-channel program with a serial port connection between the mythbox and the STB, but no go. There is no firewire port on the STB either.)

These questions really do seem to come in clusters... http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=15137

You may need to upgrade your ivtv driver depending on the chip on the PVR-150. Also make sure that you really get a PVR-150 rather than an (unsupported) HVR-1600 which they were substituting in some packages for a while.

Given drivers that recognize the card, it should be detected at startup and pop up mythtv-setup so that you can add a card definition and an input connection. That's about all there is too it. Pay attention to the auto-probe information however since the card slot you use may make the old card come 2nd to the new one.

The PVR150 was added and recognized by MythTV. I deleted and recreated the cards in mythtv-setup with no problem, although strangely the two defined tuners are now 5 and 6 instead of 1 and 2. Both the PVR150 and the single defined tuner on the PVR500 are functioning perfectly in the system except for one thing - I can not send IR signals from the PVR150 to the second STB to change channels.

The serial irblaster and channel changing script are working fine with the PVR500 card. I've tried multiple things listed in http://knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page ... hSetTopBox and none of them has worked. I should also mention that before the PVR150 and after it's installation I've been using a StreamZap remote and lirc for navigating around the MythTV interface with no problems.

I've now thoroughly confused myself as to which .conf and script files need to be modified, and which devices need to be addressed. I'm going around in circles. Any suggestions?

Thanks.
