Hi,

I am trying to install my US-Robotics PCI card, but haven't had much success. I tried to use the debian package mentioned on the ndiswrapper page (dpkg -i ndis*.deb), but
'modprobe ndiswrapper' complains "can't load module ndiswrapper"

Second, i tried to download and install sources (0.8),
but 'make install' gives me a lot of header file errors I don't know how to fix.

Can anyone give me some pointers?

TIA,
Michael

After unpacking the kernel sources, the make install option from the sources seem to work. Only after completing the install, modprobe procedure, I still don't have a wlan0 (iwconfig only shows "lo no wireless support).

I think I am going to check the procedure described below:

Comments, ideas welcome.

TIA,
Michael

did you create an alias wlan0 line? otherwise the module will not know it is supposed to be wlan0.

-edit-
ok I just read your link, and the first thing he tells you to do is wrong for knoppmyth. modprobe.conf is for 2.6 kernels. for knoppmyth you should create a file in /etc/modutils and add those two lines into it then run update-modules. You may want to check that it worked by looking in /etc/modules.conf and making sure the lines are in there.

Thanx,

The problem now seems to be that I get a message about a method not implemented.

I'll try the ndiswrapper forum now :-)

I tried a d-link driver for the same chipset, but finally got it working with a TNET1130 driver as specified in this thread.

Thanx for the help.
