It is the same system, with all hardware the same.
I have two drives:
1 IDE0 Master = Maxtor 300GB
2 SATA1 Western Digital 250GB
I am installing only on the Maxtor 300GB drive. I have disconnected the SATA drive, reinstalled Knoppmyth, and I still have the same problem, which is why it is hooked back up. The SATA drive is currently not even formatted / partitioned.
Maxtor is currently (at least for the next few minutes)
is a manual install with:
/ = 10GB (bootable) ext3
swap = 2GB
/cache = 10GB ext2
/myth = 278GB ext3
same problem
Please advise.
I can't wait to get this system up and running!

<nevermind>
Ok, so I am stuck.
Why is no one helping me?
I feel like I have done all I can do with Knoppmyth - I just don't know what else to try.
Current setup:
Automatic Install leaves me with a "no-boot" situation which hangs at "Verifying DMI Pool Data.............." which everything I have seen points to hardware, but other OS's seem to work fine.
Can anyone give me some direction? I really want to use Knoppmyth. Could this possibly be a boot-loader problem? Like, if the installer didn't install one (correctly?). Why has no one commented on that photo - it must be normal to show a bunch of errors before saying "Successfully Installed".
I am really, really stuck .... anyone?
</nevermind>
I downloaded, burned, and installed R5A30.1 and it works fine.
and the next thing I saw after
"Verifying DMI Pool Data.............."
was
"LILO...."
so I am guessing that R5A30.2 didn't install LILO properly.
anyways, I am off to configure the *almost* newest version.....

If you think the issue is with LILO, perhaps searching the forum for 'lilo mount chroot'? We can only do so much....

Here's how:
installed a Hauppauge PVR-350, yes, that would be tuner 3.
installed Ubuntu 5.10 to SATA 250GB Drive
fresh install of R5A30.2 worked great
now all I have to do is figure out how to dual-boot... off to search some more....
thanks for all your help, guys!
you pointed me in the right direction!
a couple links to specific posts would have been more helpful, but i found what I needed.... even got encrypted dvds working.
Thanks!
