What steps are needed to get this working? Is it really just plug it in, disconnect my ps/2 keyboard and mouse and enjoy?

As tjc says, I recognise it is possible to access my linux mythbox and I think it's a fair point from gr8nash. I think in most instances many people don't know any linux/unix code. I think I'd be hard pressed to find anyone, even in my works' IT deptment, with even a basic knowledge of linux. I'm on a fairly low rung on that ladder myself.
Fortunately my windoze box on my network is still behind a firewall from before I bought my router.
Most people are only familiar with Windoze. I remeber a couple of years ago I was talking to a Canadian friend of mine who related a story about a time she was msn-ing with someone who thought they were a bit of a script kid and it would be fun to try and take over her machine.
He was so confused coz she was using a mac and he couldn't get anywhere.

Well, to tell the truth, I just did not quite know that there was a security hole with a wireless keyboard. At this point, I don't even know if my wireless keyboard/mouse set encrypts the signal in anyway...just did not bother with the user's manual nor tutorials since all that is for Windows, anyway.

Having said that.

I have one of those RF wireless keyboard/mouse set with a little antenna that connects to my computer via a USB port and works just like that, really plug and play.

While I might have bought it prematurely (my PVR-250 came with a remote that controls MythTV and with LIRC the satellite box too) I like it alright and I think it is nice not to have a 12 foot cable or two across my living room. Also, the mouse is not only optical if you put it on a dark surface, it also works in mid-air without any surface whatsoever...I am talking about the wireless keyboard/mouse set from Gyration; I ordered for $60 bucks from Geeks.com and a couple of days later saw it for $120 at Best Buy.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents.
