Okay, I got ivtv-0.3.6n downloaded and installed (I'm pretty sure) but it still shows static. In the message logs it still has
Code:
tveeprom: Hauppauge: model = 26032, rev = C199, serial# = 2936154
tveeprom: tuner = <unknown> (idx = 99, type = 0)
tveeprom: tuner fmt = NTSC(M) (eeprom = 0x08, v4l2 = 0x00001000)
tveeprom: audio_processor = TDA9850 (type = 3)

...

Having caused a problem and reverted, I now feel like I'm getting somewhere. I couldn't find a v4l directory to check for duplicate ivtv modules, but the log/messages seems to show the right one being loaded.

The tuner = <unknown> is pretty good evidence that you're using the v4l tuner module and not the ivtv one, which means you might be mixing and matching other modules as well.

I think the dir is:

/lib/modules/2.6.11.7-chw-4/v4l2

The ivtv make install put newer ones in here:

/lib/modules/2.6.11.7-chw-4/ivtv

...but it's likely the ones in v4l2 are being seen first.

Okay, here is my v4l2 directory listing.
Code:

cx88-blackbird.ko  dvb-bt8xx.ko  nxt6000.ko      sp887x.ko           v4l1-compat.ko

Here is my ivtv directory listing.
Code:
cx25840.ko  ivtv.ko     saa7115.ko  tda9887.ko  tveeprom.ko

What files should I be deleting/copying from where?

I renamed tda9887.ko tuner.ko and tveeprom.ko in the v4l2 directory then commented out the line that I added in the ivtv file. Now I'm back to static on all of the channels. :?

However, the log shows good stuff from tveeprom.
Code:
tveeprom: Hauppauge: model = 26032, rev = C199, serial# = 2936154
tveeprom: tuner = TCL 2002N 5H (idx = 99, type = 50)
tveeprom: tuner fmt = NTSC(M) (eeprom = 0x08, v4l2 = 0x00001000)
tveeprom: audio_processor = TDA9850 (type = 3)

So now it autodetects a tuner and a type. I just wish I knew what to do with this useful piece of information.

Having removed the old .ko files, I still can't even get it to work with the old line I had in my ivtv file uncommented. I was looking at the startup log and noticed "cx25840: requesting /lib/modules/HcwMakoA.ROM", but that file wasn't there so I downloaded it from the Hauppage site and put it there. It didn't make a difference. But I thought I would post the whole log here in case anyone else could notice something horribly wrong.
