I have been seing some recent press about linux running on a nintendo gamecube. Has anybody given some thought to running mythfrontend on one of these. By my (n00bile) understanding, these should have adequate video out . However, as far as I know the gamecube doesn't have a built in harddrive so I guess the system would have to run off of the CD. I know that the game cube hardware is pretty weak compared to the xbox. But isn't the xbox overkill anyhow?

Also I don't know about the IR options on the gamecube. But at under $100 for these systems it might be worth looking into.

The Xbox is basically a PC souped up for games. The GameCube runs on a MIPS processor(if I remember correctly). While getting Linux(the kernel) to run on specific hardware maybe successful it this doesn't mean getting every software to runs on Linux on another architecture will be successful. Perhaps asking on the MythTV mailing list.
