Hi all, today i will install knoppmyth.

But i have one question that i can't find any answer on and that's, will it help if i also add a SATA disk to the system and put /cache on that one?
I have read that cache is much write/fileintensive, so if i put all on ide disc and the cache on sata, would that be better perfoemance wit hchannel changing for example?

Hi,
My personnel opinion is do the basic auto install on the ide and make a working system. The cache is not needed and I stopped using it even in the A series. Later, you can format the serial drive for more storeage. Serial installs are not really for the beginners as one has to do several steps manually.

Without any hard details, your answer can only be generic. :(

Have a great day!
Mike

As far as I know /cache/ is no longer used in MythTV 0.19.

And KnoppMyth have at least earlier had problems installing on anything other than hda (byt maybe it works having your data on a SATA drive).
