Hello, All,

I absolutely love my MCEUSB2 remotes, but I can't get them to work with anything other than R5A30.2, for whatever reason.

I've browsed through tons of posts, and I'm a bit overwhelmed. Hopefully this is a decent question:

Which 3rd-party remote do you use? Was it easy to set up with KnoppMyth R5B7 from a fresh install (or is it supported with the included lirc configs)?

I can't stand the original PVR-150 remote, so I'm open to any/all suggestions. The MCEUSB2 was great up until R5B7... I'll be happy to try out whatever seems to have the best overall reputation among you experts!

Thanks in advance!

I'm using the Harmony 880 (will end up being $87 after rebates!!!) and it works great. But I already had a working StreamZap remote (from mythic.tv ) and it's using that IR interface.
It asked if I had a remote for my MythTV PVR, I said yes, it asked to learn two codes, and it figured out the rest. Pretty awesome.
Then I taught it a couple of jump codes from my IR Keyboard, and that went ok, but not as well. Sometimes the IR Receiver for the keyboard gets stuck on the caps lock or something. I need to re-teach it some of those codes.

Excellent deal on that remote after the rebates!

Still, looking for something relatively inexpensive and, more importantly, not insanely complicated/wife-friendly.

Thanks for the info, though. I'm sorta tempted to try one of those :)

It's VERY wife-friendly. She loves it. The kids love it.
This replaced a SONY RM-AV3000, which had macros to switch all of my inputs for various "activities". The Harmony just "knows what to do", based on how I told it my system is configured. i.e. to watch Myth, it knows to set the TV input to Video6 and the Receiver input to "Video2", and that the receiver controls the volume/mute.
Pretty screen, lights up when you turn it on. Very cool. Configuration is via web interface, which works well, but is a bit slow and unresponsive.
Overall though, we're much happier than with the SONY.

Anyway, watch fatwallet for deals. There was a $50 rebate from Logitech which ran out on April 25. Then one day, for about 3 hrs, Dell had it on a crazy discount.

Of course, I'll feel better when the rebate check actually gets here....

Hmm, thanks for the info. Maybe I'll give this one a shot...

What receiver would I need for this again? The IR from the StreamZap interface, or would something else work, too?

Thanks!

I used the StreamZap one, and somehow, the Harmony knew about StreamZap. From the wiki, it also looks like it knows about one of the Happauge remotes. But I don't have one of those...

Interestingly enough, R5C7 works pretty amazingly well, right off the bat, with my MCEUSB2 remotes.

The mute button doesn't seem to work, and the Info button requires two presses to bring up program info, but otherwise all is well...

I'll have to look back at the other lirc config from my last R5A30.2 install...

Hey my Original Hauppauge Silver Remote does not mute neither. And i think my lircrc is right. Could there be a general problem? Is there a fix?

Actually, I had to modify the Mute key to F10 or something--the default shift-| combo wouldn't work at all.

Then I reconfigured the interface for mute to be F10 and it worked fine after another reboot. Hope this helps!
