I'm trying to use a GIGABYTE Geforce 6200 GV-N62128DS (BIOSTAR K8M800-M7A motherboard) setting up using VGA out (will go component or DVI eventually). I downloaded the latest nvidia driver, installed and ran their X setup script for the XF**-4 file. Using Standard XvMC, de-interlace blend and the other options checked, 1080i video (both live and playback) is fine. However with 720p content, I have drop-outs and slowing down of video. CPU usage is around 50%. Has anyone seen this also? Any solution? Will this still be present when set to 1080i (either component or DVI) output to an HD-TV? Thanks. |

Ok, no response. However I replaced the 6200 with a 5200 and works fine with XvMC settings, but the 5200 does not have component out... which I wanted to pipe everything thru my A/V receiver. Funny thing is using the 6200/XvMC settings with a 720p channel will work fine if the browsing menu or any other dialog is being display! With the 6200 set to de-interlace = bob (2x) and libmeg2, it works but the picture quality is not as good as the 5200 with XvMC on the SONY vga monitor. I guess there are still problems with the Nvidia drivers with 6xxx. Since I already ordered 6150 based motherboard also, guess I'll have the same problems. |

Man I feel your pain. All logic dictates that the newest Nvidia cards should better, but no. I would suggest you use the 5200 and buy an Audio Authority 9A60 VGA to Component Video Converter (about 100 bucks). That's what I use and it works great. If you decide to go that route, take a look at my post at the bottom of this thread which will get you started at 720p: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=10058 EtherNut |

ethernut, Thanks, I've heard people having not-so-good results with the 9A60, a bit fuzzy, etc. Appears you had good results. Over the weekend, I've been playing around with a 6150 based (MSI Kxxxx-FID) motherboard, that will be a gift. Funny thing is it's vga output is good on 720p & 1080i OTA signals (w/XvMC), though I had some problems with getting sound (downloaded latest alsa drivers fixed problem) and still trying to get the temp/fan speed sensor software to work. Could be that it's not a VIA chipset MB and/or the more powerfull Athlon 3000 (vs Sempron 2800) being used in my own system. |
