Has anyone here with the via chipsets, been able to get around it, with a seperate controller card (also allowing a drive bigger then 137gb)?
Thanks

The MOMS list mentioned in the original thread contains the best work around information that I'm aware of.

I'm curious, why would you think Via limits the HD to 137Gb. my KT266A has an 80, 160 and 250Gig. All working at 100% size and the 160 and 250 are single partitions.

As always. make sure your BIOS is up to date..

Mine is a Via KLE133, an earlier version then the 266, with no bios upgrade. But that isn't the issue, the issue is it hangs talking to the drive, and from what I am finding on the web, it appears to be this chipset. I was asking about using an ide controller card LIKE the ones used to pass the bios limitations on some OLDER motherboards. (what I have available)

The "Hardware to avoid - Read this BEFORE making a mistake!" thread here: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6321 which the title of your original posting seemed to refer to. The 3rd posting in that thread includes this link to the Hauppauge site :http://www.hauppauge.com/html/lockups.htm#MOMLIST
