I'm going to upgrade the motherboard & CPU in my mythbox and I'm looking for feedback. The box has 1 HD (DCT-6200 via firewire) and 1 SD (PVR-250) tuner and wil be used to play back SD & HD recordings to my HDTV.

For the otherboard I am looking at the DFI 865PE-TAG ATX Intel Motherboard, $77 from newegg ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813136156 ). The board has 5 PCI slots, 1 8x AGP slot, uses the intel chipset and the on-board audio includes a coax SPDIF output.

For the CPU I am looking at the Intel Pentium 4 prescott 630, 3.0 ghz, 800 mhz FSB, Hyper-threading, 2 MB cache, $168 from newegg, ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819116198 ).

Depending on your case type and low noise needs, I highly recommend an Athlon64 instead. Check the KRP Dragon specs to see what the developers build Knoppmyth around.
