Circuit City had a sale on the PVR-150 nonmce $40 rebates so any way, install of R5A30 all seems to work except tv. Had to edit the ivtv to make the card come to it come to life,

With the exception of audio out, which is only a low level hiss. Remote, osd, channel change are ok. Picture is good quality, nice chroma & plays smooth using libmpeg2.

This is running on a:
Dell OptiPlexGX1
400mhz,
256 meg mem
onboard ATI video
onboard cs4236 audio (modprobe required)
onboard network

I have been digging however haven't found much relating to audio. Any hints?
I need the features that the A series allows me to have so upgrading is not an option.

Followed the guide you suggested and things aren't quite the same as pre updating, but I tried it anyway.
first the kernal is 2.6.13.2-chw-3,
it doen't id the tuner (4) so I had to forced the id of 50
That gives a nicer looking picture, better color, remote is fine, however only very faint audio under the white noise so not a change there. Went through all the alsamixer settings just in case.

The kernel version change is to be expected, that's why there's a bunch of info there that says "this could be different, don't panic". Since it's hasn't been a problem area I've left well enough alone.

Could you post the relevent log sections? It's easier sorting out support for new versions of the PVR cards with people who have known working Unix skills.

Oh, and the "ivtvctl -a" output too if you could...

There is another gentleman with simular problems with the 150, I sort of combined mine and his as I suspect the solution will be common. At this point, it does fall more under the "hardware" area anyway. Acceptable? It will cut down on your travel time between threads also

It wasn't clear to me at first that this was running R5A30. In that case I would recommend the full CompileIvtv procedure. If you run into any kernel incompatibilities step back tthrough the older ivtv module versions.

Just out of curiosity, what features from R5A30 are keeping you from upgrading this box to R5C7?

No problem, here is good too! A30 works better for me than A26 and below, however A30.1 & A30.2 gave me issues with the zap2it data. It vanishes after it comes down. With the modified mythlink.sh the system just runs and stays clean, mythstream works nicely so I can watch NASA, and all the other tools that I add, just work. I am getting close to popping the 150 out and put my 350 in place, then call it done, xcept it is going to be a gift.

I need the .nuv extension on the record files so that I can edit the database. One of our forum members wrote an excellent tool that allows editing of what you see in the recorded shows. So when I record a home movie of the kids,I can edit the listing entry and put in notes, change title, and all the other little details that show up in the webpage.

Also, R5C7, I don't care for the drive to fill up with junk recordings when all I want to do is leave the tv on in the background while I putz around. It would be nice to turn that feature on / off, maybe switch into a ringbuffer mode. However, other than my preferences, R5C7 is excelent!

Ok, on to the quest of making the 150 work. It is probably something that may apply to current versions also. I had no errors or complaints when compiling and after I forced the type 50, it received nice pictures. A definite improvement. Once I/we get the sound....

No idea of the status of those (especially the "other") with R5C7...

This really ought to be a trivial fix to the scrpt. Look for the .nuv form of the name, if that's not found try the .mpg form. We're talking 4-5 lines of bash here.

This one is pure black box effect. When people couldn't see what was happening inside the black box or fiddle with it, they didn't fret about it. That's really about the only difference. Now the files are named and you can actually list them, or go back to the one that just ended if you want to, which is occasionally very, very nice. Oddly, it's really hard to get people who don't want to see them to just turn this off and stop obsessing over it. Being a bit O.C. myself, I tend to purge them whenever I see them just to keep the lists clean, but the system generally does a bang up job on it's own.

What does lspci -v show for that device? We may be able to back port the device detection from 0.4.5 or later if the device id number is one of the new ones.

Well Subsystem 0x8003 should be a known type (the older card that's working?), so yeah, or at least anything else that looks interesting. The two new ones seem to be 0x17e7, 0x17f7, and for PVR-250s 0x4008.

Cool, sounds like we are on a simular page! When I had the printer working I had all the tools I needed on one KM box, and then the mother board died
