This is a repost from about a month ago because the original post proved to be currupt and not accesable.

After playing around with Mythtv on an old Duron 900, I was very impressed and decided that Mythtv is the way to go. I wanted to buld a faster, better looking computer and was looking at these two barebones.
That being said I want to make sure I can use KnoppMyth because it made everything so easy.

I was looking for a cheap way to start with a combined Frontend/backend.
I want to retire the Duron because there is no since running two systems at this point.

The two barebones I was looking at were the:

Pundit-PH1
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6856110046
http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=1 ... odelmenu=1

But it uses a ATI Radeon XPress 200 chipset which for linux I was told to stay away from ATI.

MSI Hetis 915 STD
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6856101008
http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_sp ... lack_(RoHS)&class=npc
Sorry can't get that link to make a clean click so you may have to cut and paste
It uses a Intel 915 GV chipset. *Note the "Lite" model does not have S-video or DVI

Both of these barebones have S-Video, composit (RCA), and DVI out (Would the S-video out be supported?)

My final question is, do these DVI to Component video adapters work so I could diplay the image on a normal TV with Component video in?

With summer jobs coming up I will be able to get some more parts and just wanted to make sure I chose something knoppmyth friendly. If these do not work I'll browse the Teir 1 and build my own from scratch (a good barebone saves some time with those damn USB and firewire pins).
This has been a great resourse and I cannot wait get a more powerful system up and running.
-Chance

My co-worker and I are trying to get the Hetis 915 Std working right now. Apparently the exact model is important. Some of the 915's have DVI-I and some have DVI-D. You need the DVI-I to use a component video out cable.
So far I've only used VGA with the Hetis. That worked once or twice.
I think the MS-6289-150 has DVI-I. The MS-6289-050 certainly has only DVI-D. So far, it's proven difficult to get a good answer out of MSI tech support.
The particular unit we're trying to get from MSI is http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/ ... hp?UID=605 or http://tinyurl.com/hj2db
We actually have some of the same questions you do and we may know more soon. What we know so far is the Hetis 915 is very, very quiet. The case is easy to work with in terms of cabling, assembly, and fit.

MSI in Taiwan says none of the Hetis 915 Std really supports DVI-I regardless of the connector. We can't use the Hetis with component video without adding another card. Our evil plan was to add a pcHDTV and a PVR-500 in the two slots and there are only two slots.
Now we're looking at a more expensive Aopen with component video built in. http://tinyurl.com/nyx8y. It has a bigger boxier form instead of the more stereo friendly Hetis.
I think we're still going to try using the Hetis without component video. Have you confirmed that the Asus supports DVI-I?
