Just out of curiosity. When I use a KNC1 TV Station DVB-S adapter and / or a TwinHan 1030A DVB-S adapter on my backend with an Asus A7N8X-E mobo (with nForce2 chipset and Athlon mobile CPU) the picture quality is very very poor like the dish is not alligned properly. When I try the same adapters on a system (P4 socket 478, intel chipset) with exactly the same kernel and MythTV version, and the same coax cables from my dish then the picture quality is just fine.

Sifting through various archives I couldn't find known issues with DVB adapters on this mobo or nForce2 chipsets for that matter. Perhaps it's a PCI issue. Would anyone happen to have witnessed the same and have an idea how to solve it?

I have tried changing all PCI related settings in the BIOS. I have also disabled all PCI devices like serial/parallel ports, USB and firewire and removed all other PCI adapters to see if that made any difference. Unfortunately it didn't.

I'm using DVB-C with A7N8X-E with no problems.

If you haven't already done so, you might want to double check the bit rate settings in the recording profile. Otherwise, it sounds to me like EM interferience inside the box. This could come from the PSU, a fan, the video card or just about anything else. Have you tried moving cards around to different slots?

Thanks Alien for your reply. Interesting that you have an adapter very similar to mine. I have tried different slots, but no success. The recording profile doesn't allow for much settings as it's capturig TS. I'll keep playing with it.
