Post subject: | Using the Nextview EPG with a PVRx50 |
So Hello Guys, My Settopbox R5D1 is working very good, but I still don`t have EPG Data! So in my System are 2 Cards, The First is a PVR350 where I was told that meanwhile the ivtv Driver can handle teletext and Grabbing EPG over that! The Second Card is a Nova-T DVB-T Card where I was told too, that MythTV can Handle the EIT Data. Now the Question, did anyone set up both EPGs and how did he do that? Nextview is compiled without GUI, so configureing is not so easy, but I think I can configure it on my Desktop, and copy the Config File right? Thanks for Ideas... ![]() |

In mythtv-setup, in Video Sources, if you are using a conventional grabber, you need to select the check box which says something like "Update using EIT data". In addition there should be an EIT only grabber option. In addition in the Channel editor you may need to select the check box for EIT data, which is next to the XMLTV ID. I don't recall there being any channel update info from Teletext for a PVR350, or any analogue capture card, though I could be wrong. ![]() It might be an feature request for the MythTV team, though as Analogue transmissions are being switched off in many countries they may regard it as a low priority issue. ![]() Bruce S. |

We have a Channel here who sends EPG Data over Teletext, you can grab that Info with NextVIEW with bttv cards. This is now also possible for PVR Cards! But how does it work? How can I get Nextview to collect that data for me? Don`t want to use my bttv card for that anymore! ![]() |

Sorry I've no idea how you set up the NextView EPG & MythTV. Doing a quick google I found an entry here menioning something about using ivtvctl -p 4 . But I've no idea whether that will work, or how you set it up normally, sorry ![]() It might be worthwhile changing the thread title to be a bit more specific, like "Using the Nextview EPG with a PVRx50". DVB EPG: This also depends on the broadcaster sending this information. If it is being sent, you should be able to grab the EPG data. I have a DVB-C and it works fine. You have to go into the setup (ctrl-s) and select EIT for each channel. You may have to set it for the source as well (I'm not sure, it has been a while since I did this). Also note that older versions of myth had problems with the channel scan. If you have done an upgrade with scanned channels from an older version, you may have to delete all the channels and re-scan. Nextview: This is interesting! I'm going to have to try it out. Take a look at http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/NxTV_EPG_howto. Basically, you use the tool to grab the xml data into a file. Then look at the file to get the xml IDs for each channel and put this XML ID tag into the setup (ctrl-s) for each channel. Then use mythfilldatabase to read in the file. Use mythfilldatabase --help to see the options. You will need to specify the source and the newly created xml file.... I forget the options at the moment. When I get a chance, I'm going to try this out and put together a writeup. It will probably be a few weeks before I get some time. |

OK, That was helpfull, now my Nextview is ready configured and grabbing! Now there are many ways of collecting Data at a specific time, but it would be more usefull, if there was a possibility to say he should use the pvr for grabbing as long as I don`t watch TV. Are State driven Scripts possible with linux? Perhaps with inotify? Greetings Wulf |
