I tried installing knoppmyth but it is not seeing my network card...which is built onto the motherboard (Asus A7V600). I know once I get the driver I can run the netcardconfig - can anyone provide any help on how I go about getting all this working?

Do you know what chipset is used on the motherboard? If so, you can probably do a google to find what module it uses and modprobe the module. Then place the module at the end of /etc/modules.

Well it appears the motherboard uses VIA KT600 which apparently is not fully supported under Linux. The onboard networking won't work, and neither will any PCI network card (I've tried 5). It sees them alright but it won't route anything, despite these cards working fine in other Linux computers, the same config working in other linux machines, and all of this working just perfectly on this machine under Windows XP. I've also tried SUSE and a few other distributions. I might have better luck with kernel 2.6 but I can't get it to compile right under SUSE. So anyway I've pretty much given up, and if anyone is considering buying a MB for this, I'd definately recommend staying as far away from ASUS A7V600 as possible.
