Post subject: | 2 Issues: PVR150 and PCHDTV 5500 Thoughts |
Okay, first off, the sound on my PVR150 goes out periodically. A reboot of my backend fixes the problem. I've even gotten to the point that I have a cron job to reboot the server once a day. Is this a known issue with a work-around (I'm using R5A30.2) Second, I just purchased a PCHDTV 5500 and have yet to install it. One of my issues is that it requires an external jumper between the TV card and the sound card. Does this mean that you can only install one of these cards in a computer? I was contemplating replacing both of my SDTV cards with a couple of PCHDTV cards but this seems to burst that bubble... (Also, my other card is a PVR-350 so I'm going to have to remove that in order to install the PCHDTV card...) Am I missing something? |

the hd card will only require the jumper if you are recording analog with it. For digital signals the audio is encoded in the MPEG2 stream that simply gets written to disk. |

Does the mythtv backend know this? In other words, will it try to record analog channels with the PCHDTV if I install it as the first tuner, or will it know that it should go down to the 350 or the 150 for analog channels? Is there some way to program only HD channels for the PCHDTV and only analog ones for the other tuners? |

With the 0.19 mythtv, the PCHDTV card can only be set up as digital or analog, not both. You just set up a "video source" for the card which contains only the digital channels. |

Thanks for the info about the PCHDTV card... What about my PVR-150? It's really annoying to have a show record and when you try and watch it there's no sound. Rebooting the machine fixes the problem (with the tuner, but not the recording), but it eventually comes back and sometimes less than 24 hours have passed. Can anyone even suggest what logs I should be looking in and what I should be looking for? thanks |
