Post subject: | fiber-optic cable settopbox |
My city is installing fiber to the home. In fact they were just drilling under the street and running the conduit for it today right in front of the house. Once it is installed I can get cable TV, telephone, and broadband Internet service over fiber. We should be able to save a good amount of money by switching. But that means cable will no longer come on a cable. I will have to use their settopboxes for tuners. I hope they have a IEEE1394 port that I can use. Otherwise it will be time to setup the ir-blaster. Does anybody have experience with fiber-optic settopboxes? I don't know who makes the boxes yet or what connections they have. |

I'm guessing this means IPTV? In any case seems a set-top box and IR blaster are the most likely solution. Which country is this? |

Yea it is an IPTV system. This is in Burlington Vermont USA. Update: The settopbox seems to be the Amino AmiNET124. The pdf doesn't list ieee1394 as an interface. But it does have USB2 as an output. |
