Hi all, My AGP GeForce FX5200 got fried. I have a PCI GeForce MX4000 laying around and I wanted to try and put that in before spending any more money on the DVR. Will I be able to just pop this one in and go? Will I need to install drivers? Will I need to change any settings to switch the video from AGP to PCI? Thanks! |

Similar question, I'm changing from my original "found in junk drawer" ATI Radeon card to my "just arrived from Newegg" EVGA NVIDIA 5200. It couldn't start the X-Server, no surprise, so now I'm searching to find out what to do next... |

Run the install-nvididia<something-something> (use tab completion, my poor brain ready to pack it in for the night) is script to get the drivers in place. Grab the fx5200 sample from the wiki and drop it in place of your old XF86Config-4. Reboot or restart GDM to see if it worked. Just thought I'd let you know, the switch happened flawlessly. Popped in the PCI MX4000 and everything came up normally. Thanks! |
