Will a PVR-500 work with a Hauppauge A415-HPG remote? If so anything special I will need to know to get it to work. TIA

Not without some kind of IR sensor.

What is a good source for one of these? Remote I have has some sort of IR sensor with a 1/8 inch jack and seems to have two types of emitters both attach to the same jack. Is there a place on the pvr-500 to attach an sensor?
iIf so would this do?

Thanks

No there isn't. That's exactly the problem. The MCE versions of the Hauppauge PVR cards are meant to be used with a seperate IR sensor. The do not support one organically. The dongle you have is meant to be plugged into a PVR-150 (non-MCE) card which has a matching connector (it's actually the next size smaller than 1/8th" so you don't mix it up with the stereo input on those cards).

You probably need to obtain something like a serial port IR sensor.

Would the IR receiver from a ACK-571 wireless keyboard also function as a IR receiver for a remote?

A learning remote that could be trained to send the same codes produced by the keyboard, yes.

The A415-HPG, no.

Unlike a serial port IR receiver, it's not a general purpose devices. It's hardwired to receive a very specific set of codes and turn them into key and mouse events without any OS software being involved.
