Post subject:  pixelated recordings

Hello, I have a PVR-150 running in an athlon 1800+ with 768 MB of RAM on an MSI K7T266 Pro2A (Via chipset) as a backend system. I am using my 32MB Nvidia for TV-Out.

My TV signal format is NTSC

All of my recordings and live TV almost appears fine but there are occasional pixelations in the picture. Are there some specific settings that I need to configure for this PVR150?

Also, my shows are unable to record for more that 2 minutes without stoping. I do not know if these problems are related but any help with either would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jon

Sounds like a signal quality problem.

Double check your backend log files for the recording failures. Look for messages about the card not being able to sync or losing sync. See the wiki page on log files.

Do the usual cabling checks; good cables, screw on connectors, not loose, not using cascaded splitters, no cross talk, checked with a TV, ...

If you're using the default 480x480 resolution, try changing it to 640x80 or 720x480 (don't forget to boost the bit rates appropriately) and see if that helps. BTW - You're not doing this to improve the picture by increasing the resolution, but rather to change the encoding and memory access patterns. It's a strange voodoo hack, but easy enough to try.

It might also be worth upgrading the ivtv drivers.
