Post subject:  Serial ATA and knoppmyth

I recently purchased a Promise SATA controller card Link

Will Knoppmyth automatically recognize the card (I noticed during startup that knoppmyth looks for a highpoint raid card)?
What will the be the name of the device for the sata hard drive be once the card is recognized (will it be /dev/hd?)?

not sure if the sata ones are recognized automatically or not. But it would definitely not be /dev/hda it should be /dev/sda the raid cards are recognized as SCSI even if they are ata.

Darn, kernel 2.4 bites me in the butt again. I should have just bought a 3ware or highpoint card.

Post subject:  S-ATA Works for me

I'm using an S-ATA drive, and it's fine. I did have a few issues at the start, but it turned out that I needed to have it setup as the master on channel 0.
