Post subject: | PVR-350 No Sound/Audio |
Okay, forgive me, but I'm about to punch out my computer screen trying to understand why I get "no audio" from the "standard" PVR-350. I get a great picture but absolutely no audio. I understand basic RCA connection and even plugging a patch cable between the sound card (on the mother PCB) and the PVR-350. I have an ACER eMachine. I've run the configure file for the 350 - no dice. What the HECK should I be looking for? (I'm running the Knoppix ISO which installs Linux mythtv 2.6.15-chw-2). None of the help files seems to address this. This has got to be something simple. Suggestions would be most appreciated before a computer screen is abused. Thanks, Tom |

Details? Are you trying to use the PVR 350 for output? What are you feeding it for input? (s-video, composite, tuner?) ... |

The files were created on another computer using standard DIVX format. These, I know, produce sound. So it's not an encoding issue. It's very much output related. What else can I tell you? Thanks! ![]() Tom |

How have you got the audio output settings configured? There are some special ones for the PVR-350. Under Settings->TV->Playback you do not want the "Audio through PVR-350 only" checked. Where have you got the audio from the video/audio output dongle connected? It should be going to either the line-in or mic on your sound card. The corresponding input should be un-muted in alsa mixer. (Note that the 1/8" stereo jack on the card is an input used to get the audio for recordings from s-video or composite inputs) DIVX recordings are also going to be different than normal TV playback. The PVR-350 really excels at MPEG-2 playback (like PVR recordings and DVDs), but aything else is another story entirely. Test with live tv or an MPEG-2 TV recording first and get that working. |

Well, I can hook a speaker to the Audio out on the sound card and get audio (not much, but it's there). I've tried plugging the Line out on the sound card to the Audio in on the PVR-350. Nothing. The Audio through PVR-350 only - I've heard of setting it both ways. (Neither works - of course). At any rate sound also works on the dataCD through the DVD player - but again, nothing through the PVR-350. Help! ![]() tjc wrote: How have you got the audio output settings configured? You've got this completely backwards. You DO NOT want to pipe audio output from the soundcard into the pvr-350's input. This is doomed to fail. That input is ONLY used for recording from an external source. You want to take the output from the 350, into an input on the soundcard, and then have the sound card drive your speakers or feed your receiver or whatever. |

Well, I've got sound out of the sound card but cannot input sound from a source into the mic input (there are two - one in the front and one in the back - neither appears to work). The audio output from the PVR-350 is nothing. Is there a simple way to check soundcard input? A program where I can test the input? tjc wrote: pokeys wrote: I've tried plugging the Line out on the sound card to the Audio in on the PVR-350. Nothing. You've got this completely backwards. Okay. I finally figured it out. Simply put, the mixer/volume controls were turned down or off - aumix - the Linux command line program worked fine. My only complaint now - and I'll work on this - is the realtime sound is playing while the outputted video from the PVR-350 is playing - meaning the sound is out of sync. |

You still have it hooked up wrong. |
