Post subject: | No Sound with R5D1 |
Hi, Was wondering if someone could help me. I have looked for the answer in the forums and on the net but have had no luck. I had version R5c7 (i think) running myth perfectly and I thought id update. I did an auto install and everything went smoothly. However I have lost sound with live tv/dvd/mythstream or mythgame. Ive lost sound alltogether I tried lspci | grep audio and it brings up my onboard sound card - 1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801BA/BAM AC' 97 Audio (rev 01) i have ran "Alsamixer" and it brings up the mixer and I have unmuted everything and turned the volume up. - Didnt make a difference I tried the aplay /usr/share/sounds/beg.wav - It sais it plays but i cant here anything. Ive tried the head phones and Ive tried an external speaker. I tried re running alsaconf but no change. I load the previous version of knoppmyth and sound works straight away. Id appreciate any suggestions as Im stumped and im only new to linux. my system compro p3, 1ghz, 512meg ram, dvico plus, fx5200. Thanks |

Are you using the onboard sound card a different one. If you are using the on board one have your tired to upgrade to the lastest version of alsa drivers. |

What you also have to look at is which output you are using. By default from my experience, is that Digital Output is enabled and as I use Analog I don't get any sound. In the Alsamixer you have to turn off the Digital Out if you are not using and then the Analog output will work. Hope that helps. |

Thanks to everyone for there advice. Exactly what "digital sounds" did you turn off? The "Digital Mono Direct" only? Others? I have R5D1. I have run alsaconf and am now trying to used alsamixer. Still no sound at all. |

By toggling the mixer, via trial and error, I have it working. For the poor souls still w/o sound, here are my settings. (for better or worse).
