Hello,

I am having some trouble installing KnoppMyth R5D1 on a system with a PERC 4/DC RAID card. I have successfully installed R5C7 on this machine. R5C7 was kind of tricky because the kernel on the install CD recognized my RAID but the installed kernel did not. This was resolved after a manual install of KnoppMyth by booting off the install CD, chrooting in, and recompiling the kernel with the MegaRAID modules. With R5D1 I cannot even do a manual install because the system does not see any disks to partition/format.

Suspicious that the RAID module was at fault I booted both R5C7 and R5D1 install CDs and did a 'dmesg | grep megaraid'. R5C7 produces some message about the RAID being detected and initialized. R5D1 produces nothing. An 'lsmod' on both R5C7 and R5D1 shows the module being loaded.

So for whatever reason the MegaRAID module was working for me on the R5C7 install CD and now it doesn't on the R5D1 CD.

I'm wondering what my options are at this point. I know the kernel changed with R5D1, I'm assuming that has something to do with it. I'd really like to move to R5D1.

Any help is very much appreciated. If I can provide anymore information please ask.

From what I understand there is currently at a bug in kernel 2.6.17 that affects LSi and megaraid drivers.. Your correct that 2.6.15 is the way to go right now so stick with R5C7.

Thanks for the reply RacerX. Looks like I'll have to pass on this round.

(In the mean time, I installed the mbemon scripts on my R5C7 installation, hopefully that will help with the MythTV backend crashes I've been experiencing.)
