I am using a Compaq Deskpro EN SFF P500 which is a PIII 500MHz pc with 128MB RAM. Is that enough to check MythTV out?

The on-board sound card fails any and all detection, and does not show up with lspci. I tried to put an old ISA SB16 (I think it's a Vibra 16), but the Alsa system would not recognize it. According to Compaq, it should be an ADI Soundmax, but none of those drivers work.

The TV card is a Hauppage Win/tv PCI 60134 and that does work fine when I check it out in xawtv.

What kind of cheap sound card is recommended? I guess PCI is minimum.

What is the cheapest card to do output to the TV via either S-video (preferred) or RF?

A PIII 500 is enough if you have a hardware encoder/decoder. You won't be able to watch live tv w/ a software based card. After putting the Vibra 16 in, did you /etc/init/d/alsa-autoconfig? I'd recommend a nvidia TnT2 w/ TV out(if you can find one), if not a Geforce 440 w/ tv out.
