I can't seem to get my PVR-150 model 1045 to show anything but snow and every channel. The sound also is nothing but static. I have cable and have the coax going straight into the tuner card. It's not the cable itself because I tried it on my Windows machine and its PVR-250. I tried going through all the US cable frequency tables to no avail. I also tried adding "options tuner-50" to the ivtv config file. I tried upgrading the firmware and compilng and installing ivtv 0.4.6, but I still get nothing but static. I have R5C7 installed. Anyone have any ideas what might be causing the problem? See the ivtv log below.

Try putting "options ivitv tuner=50" in /etc/modprobe.conf I think that's the right settings. If you look in the Teir 2 forum for my post, that'll definately give you the right one.

I tried that... Didn't work, unfortunately.

After you upgraded the drivers did you do steps 8-11 from the CompileIvtv instructions? Step 11 is absolutely vital because of the way that the input numbering changes between revs. Too many people seem to think I was "just kidding" about that (and rebooting) when I wrote those directions.
Have you tried monkeyed with fine tuning? This can often provide valuable clues.

Yeah, was sure to complete all the steps in the tutorial. Where can fine tuning be accessed? Also, would the warnings that I bolded in my ivtv log be enough to cause the card to not work?

They indicate that there's some kind of mismatch in what/where the system thinks the card is and reality. This could be because of misidentification or stale mapping which is why I asked about step 11. If the driver is trying to send tuner commnads to the composite in for example you could see something like this.

Well, I got the same errors from before and after the ivtv compile, so I don't think that's it. I also tried installing R5D1, and with the same tuner type setting, and R5D1's included ivtv 0.7.0, the card works. I understand there's some kind of problem with transcoding in R5D1 and so would prefer to stick with R5C7 (unless there's some fix for the transcoding problem?). Might anything else be causing it? I know some people had some issues with the TCL M2523_5N_E based models, which is what I have. Is it just simply that the included ivtv version from R5C7 (and 0.4.6) isn't compatible with that tuner?

Upgrading R5D1 to 0.20 using Cecil's DEBs, although you should keep an eye on the MythTV 0.20 fixes revision log for bugs that might bite you, as 0.20 is still a bit raw. Cecil's 0.20 DEBs - http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=11558Revision log - http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/log/branches ... 0-20-fixes
Well, I installed 0.20, one problem though. In all the menus in MythTV, I have no text now. The program guide and the on screen info have text, as do any of the modules once you go into them. But, the MythTV main menu and the submenus have no text. If I run mythfrontend from the terminal, I get the following error when starting:
couldn't open fontconfigs chosen font with Xft!!!
Any idea how I might go about getting it fixed?

I saw in a different thread that someone fixed this by picking a different theme. It was only the retro theme that didn't have text.
