I have a spare pc. It has an Intel D845GERG with onboard lan and audio. It is socket 478 and I have the P4 2.66ghz processor. 512MB RAM, 120GB IDE harddrive and DVD-ROM.

This motherboard on Intel:

This motherboard has an onboard graphic card but I currently I have an ATI Radeon 9200 dual head video card installed. But I can go and buy something that is compatable. Also I will need a TV Capture card as well.

I would like reccomendations on the video card(s).

If I get a supported video card and capture card will this setup be problematic for a "from scratch" Linux + MythTV installation ?

if so, what distro and method would be the easiest for me? (not a linux guru)

See: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php? ... areConfigs
Especially: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php? ... Components

With the right video card and a supported capture card you ought to have this up and running in 20-30 minutes with a KnoppMyth CD using Auto-Install. If you run into minor hardware funnies (Hauppauge seems to change tuner chips as often as some people change their socks) the TroubleShooting pages on the wiki should solve 90% of the issues you're likely to encounter.
