Post subject:  Hauppauge WinTV PVR - 150 vs. 250 - which one to buy?

Hello,

I have a box that is ready to go, except for the video capture card. Hopefully, one of you experts can shed some light on the differences between the 150 vs 250. On the product comparison page, the notes mention that you get the same video quality for the 250 as you do the 150.

I can order both online, or buy the 150 at the local Circuit City or CompUSA. Why would I want to get the 250? Btw, I'm going to install KnoppMyth RD51.

Thanks for the responses!

With the latest drivers there's not much reason to go with the 250. It's got some additional capabilties (more capture formats/resolutions) that most people will never use, and it's i2c hardware is better (the 250 uses a chip, the 150 uses a cheat), but the drivers have generally reached the point wher recordings from my 150 look just as good as recordings from the 250.

Get a PVR-500 - it is two 150's in one card and costs about the same as a 250.

Nope, but you can track an ir blaster down for cheap on the internet.

cool, thanks. quick question if you dont mind...i was wondering why you are using the 500 + 150? just for 3 tuners or is there any other advantage to this setup as it seems appealing to me.
