I just upgraded from a Radeon 8500 that I never could get working quite right to a Nvidia GeForce MX440. I didn't have the ATI drivers installed, so I just pulled the card out, and popped the Nvidia one in, and rebooted. Knoppmyth detected the card and installed the driver for me when it rebooted, and I had already copied over the XF86config-4.nvidia-tvout.sample file into XF85config-4, so it looked like it was working out of the box. It booted and got into mythtv just fine, but now when I try to watch TV, a recorded program, or any video files I have, it just shows a blue screen. The audio is working fine, but there's no video. Thinking maybe the driver install didn't go so well, I reinstalled the driver from the Nvidia site. Same thing--the menus and such work fine, but I can't play anything back. I'm kinda confused--I'd think that if the TV out was working for the menus and such, it should be working for the video playback as well. Any ideas what might be going on? I searched through the forums, and while I found a couple of things somewhat related to the topic, most of them were very old, and I know a lot has changed in both MythTV and in the Nvidia drivers since then. Well, so I tinkered around with it for a while, and when I disabled XV picture controls, it started to work. Not sure why that affected it, but it's working, so I'm not complaining. |
