Hi all

lurked for a while and put together my myth box which is gradually being brought to full use. At present it has a nebula pci card which is giving me uk freeview channels (not all since my antenna isnt getting some feeds but hey ho)

Now here's what I'd like to do next. My Nebula card has a composite in, I'd like to link my sky digibox so I can grab shows from non freeview channels.

I'm planning it as follows
Step 1, set up composite in and link to a channel

Step 2, hook up the sky box and try a test recording

Step 3, get hold of an ir blaster **Anyone know a good cheap usb version for use with the knoppmyth install since my serial port seems very flakey** then set up grabbing of guide data for sky ***anyone tried this whilst also having guide data coming over the air via the dvb card?***

Step 4, be able to programme recurring recordings from freeview or composite in (SKY) using the myth scheduler

Potential problems

* Anyone been able to use the composite in on a nebula pci?

* Can this be used at the same time as the DVB freeview (I'm guessing no)

* Do the two sets of guide data conflict?

Anyone got any advice on doing any of this? I've found bits of it via the general set up guides but cant find anyone settings up a nebula in this way  ....help? :!:

Hi again.

I'm not one for answering my own posts but one trying evening later I can report the answer is....hmmm

You can get knoppmyth to see the composite input on the nebula card, output wasnt great but it did work and you could pause "live" tv.

Then I tried to get into freeview, nada, zip, zero, zilch. When the composite input is active it !!seems!! that the freeview isn't - probably connected with the bridge chip not being available.

So off I went into the config to put things back (yes, I forgot to backup first - it had been a long day  ) I wanted to delete the sky channel I set up and linked to the composite in but then managed to delete all channels.. queue much wailing and knashing of teeth and a very low WAF "why are you fiddling with it when it was working?"

So after all that I can boil this one down to bullet points

* The nebula composite can be made to work but not at the same time as freeview

* its not great quality (freeview reception is though)

* dont ever fiddle before a backup (I already knew this)

* if you're going to delete channels use mythweb!!

Incidently if anyone has DVB channels which are obtaining EPG information from over the air and you have channels with no listing, check that you dont have duplicates. I did and after removing them via mythweb and rebooting (mythfilldatabase didnt seem to do it) the epg began updating those channels.

Enough waffling...

I'm off.
