First time posting. My knowledge of Linux is limited, but I can follow instructions.

My question is this, has anyone managed to get this card to function correctly. I get video fine, as everyone else seems to, but do not get any audio. There is only a hissing noise. Searching the forum I see a number of posts but none of them help.

My System Details :-

MB : ASROCK, K7NF2-RAID
SC : Trust 5.1 Surround Sound Card SC-5250
DVB : WinTV-NOVA-T

My guess is that I need to give up on the card and purchase a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 250?

I take it from the lack of response, it's time to let the card go and play with a Windows system.

Hey there,

I have a Pinnacle PCTV Pro and am having the same issue. Still trying to figure this out, but have noticed some stuff along the way. Last year I attemped to manually build/configure Freevo on a Fedora Core 3 install and gave up after a month. Ironically, audio was not an issue and worked ok via the patch cable.

some of dmesg output from the most recent build of knoppmyth:

bt878: AUDIO driver version 0.0.0 loaded
bt878: Bt878 AUDIO function found (0).
bt878_probe: card id=[0x1211bd], Unknown card.
Exiting..

Looks like there is something flaky happening when the bt878 audio is trying to load.

I still have my Fedora install from last year loaded in a tray and have performed a dmesg for the install where I managed to have the card working. (although I couldnt get mencoder to not fail...)

some dmesg from Fedora Core 3

bttv: driver version 0.9.15 loaded

Could there be a problem with bttv 0.9.16 as opposed to 0.9.15?

I have considered trying the btaudio route recommended in the knoppmyth wiki:

http://knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=BTTV+BTAudio

I feel like a n00b sometimes with this stuff, is it possible to unload the 9.16 driver and load the 9.15 driver?

Oh well, I'm going to continue to fool with this, but don't know if I'll get too far. If I am able to get something other than white noise from the audio out jack on the card I'll be happy to share.

Good Luck!

Todd

Hi Todd,

I've tried the instructions in the link and the card still didn't want to play ball. I haven't tried the card on a fresh install of Linux to see if I can get it to work, I'm no guru with Linux. Have only ever tried to use it with Knoppmyth, thinking about it I'm sure the audio worked on one of the first install's of Knoppmyth (version 4 somthing) I installed. So you could be right about bttv no longer supporting the card's configuration.

You should be able to remove the current version and install an older version. May be worth looking around the changelogs from Version 4 to Version 5.

Looks like the wife will ahve to read a book again tonight, more playing around time is needed, I'm sure she'll understand. :-)

Cheers
