Hi, I've the system in my signature, and as I push the volume UP or DOWN on my remote, my volume goes ZERO, as muted! I checked with alsamixer from commandline, and all is active and at 100%... hints?

Sounds like you have an incorrect key binding in your lircrc file in your home/username/.mythtv/ directory. I use this remote and my binding is

prog=mythtv
button=vol-down
config=F10

prog=mythtv
button=vol-up
config=F11

The button name should correspond to what you have in your etc/lircd.conf
