Hi,

I am trying to set up a Tier 1 or easy Tier 2 configuration. After much reading, i have compiled the following hardware shopping list for the project, and would appreciate your feedback before i place an order:

LixSystems LX8100 Barebones system
- Asus M2NPV-VM Board
- onboard nVidia GeForce 6150 / nForce 430
Add-Ons:
- PVR-500
- Seagate Baracudea 7200 250 GB Pata HD
- AMD AM2 3000+ (low power consumption)
- Zalman AM2 heatsink
- 512MB 240 pin DDR-2
- Mad Dog 6-in-1 DVD/CD
- Wireless PS/2 KB/Mouse
- ATI Remote Wonder

Are there any problematic components in this system? I understood a similar system (lx8100) was donated to KnappMyth, but i cannot find any reviews regarding compatibility.

Thanks!!

I have this motherboard and to get sound working with R5D1 I needed to update alsa to 1.0.13. It wasn't hard, I just followed instructions elsewhere in the forum.

I assume as Cecil (the main Knoppmyth developer) has one of these then it will be very well supported in the future.

That system is just about Identical to the system I am in the works of building. Keep me posted on how the whole setup goes.

I too am putting together a system based on the Asus M2NPV-VM Board. I'll update when I get a little further along.

I looked at the LX8100, but I believe it only takes Half-Height PCI cards. I think that rules out the PVR-500, unless there's a model I'm not aware of. I know there is a low profile PVR-150, so two of those would be an option.

My Case is the CoolerMaster CM 620. I will be using the PVR-500 with a flexible riser card since the PCI slots are horizontal (low profile case).

Coller Master CM 260
7cm Riser Card
