I am switching from DirecTV to Cable. I moved from the Video in to the COAX on the PVR-150. I scan for channels and only find channel 5. I tried all three US-CABLE settings, but there is static with audio only on channels other than Channel 5

DMESG gives

I also changed tried editing /etc/mythtv/modules/ivtv

adding

options tuner type = 39

and type 2

all the same results channel 5 only. Any ideas?

OK, I think I found the issue. there are two places to set the coax cable frequencies. one in the main setup and one for the channel line up. I was changing the wrong one. The one in the channel line up fixed the issue.

In mythtv-setup the one under "Video Sources" should be set to default. This will let the one under "General" control it. For most cases you want to make the right setting at the highest level possible since that gives you less places to fix it.

Also, as I''ve said many, many times before, if you can use zap2it for SDTV (NTSC) do not scan for channels. It will only screw things up.

BTW - Didn't I already answer this same question for you once before? I seem to remember telling you that only getting channel 5 and/or 6 was a classic symptom of the wrong frequency set. http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=BlackScreenWatchingTV Or did you post it somewhere that it was off topic and get it deleted? :|

I do not know. I posted the message, and there was a reply, but for some reason the thread disappeared?

http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... 1969#71969

was the original post, but it is now gone.

So I thank you, twice, this time I got to read your reply, and I will use the Zap2it hint.
